Announcing Our Presence
I can only think of one thing worse than being a generally shy person, late to service because you were late leaving the nursery, relegated to sitting near the front of the room, and having a crying newborn to sneak out mid-sermon. Only one thing: stepping on her monitor cords as you pick her up and setting off the alarm. All 200-some-odd people in that room now know my daughter wears an apnea monitor. The good news is, I'm sure no one slept through the sermon after that.
