Bossy Doll
Cora and her little doll, Dana, are usually inseparable. They run every errand together, and Cora drags her all over the house. This week, she's been intentionally leaving Dana behind. I noticed, but didn't say anything. Then the other day I tucked Cora for her nap. I pulled the blankets up around her and tucked Dana in next to her. A little while later, I heard Cora out of bed and went up to investigate. There was Dana, sprawled in the middle of Cora's bed. And there was Cora, dragging a pillow and little blanket down to her rag rug on the floor.
Me: What are you doing?
Cora: Just sleeping down here.
Me: Um, ok. Why are you sleeping on the floor?
Cora: Dana is being bossy, so she can stay up there by herself. She's too bossy.
They must have worked out their differences, because the next day we set out on another errand. She picked Dana up, looked her in the eye, and said, "Are you going to be nice, or are you bossy again?" She paused for a second, then smiled and shrugged. "She says she'll be nice, Mom. She can come."
I'm glad they worked out their differences--whatever differences a girl and her doll can have!
