His Face and His Peace
As we near the end of our time here, we are growing somewhat anxious. The weight of the unknown (although knowing where we will be living has helped!) and the knowledge that the next (many) months won't be easy is daunting. Our pulses have been racing for days, and the feeling only grows more intense with each moment. On the one hand, we know we have sought God and are following Him. We've seen the cloud move, and we are dropping everything to follow. On the other hand, He sometimes feels very much like a cloud: like we get small, wispy glimpses and are left to make our decisions on faith. Any new venture requires some faith, I guess. But what we need most now is peace.
I just read from Numbers 6:
"The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make his face shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face toward you
and give you peace."
I have a new prayer for the days ahead. We know where he's leading. We know he's gone ahead and prepared the way. We know he will go with us. My prayer is that he will turn his face toward us--let us see him fully in this--and give us peace. Not only for us, but for the family and friends we leave behind.
