Third Grade Grown-Up

Cora is very sure finishing second grade changes everything.

On the way home from her last day of school today, she asked if, "now that I'm a third grader," she could walk alone to a friend's house.

Later I found her crying on the porch swing, absolutely convinced that the neighbor girls on either side of us won't want to play with her now that she's a "grown-up third grader."

Finally, before bed she asked me if third graders ever find themselves wearing footie pajamas, because the pair she pulled out for bed happened to be favorites.

Personally, I'm glad there aren't too many things in life that change everything as completely and suddenly as finishing the second grade.
