Dramatic Thoughts on Turning Five
Hard to believe Henry will be five years old tomorrow! His thoughts on aging have swung wildly between excitement over being old enough for kindergarten and chewing gum and utter devastation over leaving the golden fourth year behind. He literally went to bed in tears (and I'm the terrible mom who videotaped it)! Hoping the sight of streamers and cake in the morning make the thought of aging a little easier. He finally pulled it together a bit before bed, came into my room and stood there, sullen. He took a deep breath and squeaked out, "Well, goodbye, Mommy" before the grief overtook him again. He needs to talk to his brother, who thinks life is at its peak at five. Or maybe he has been talking to him. I'd be crushed too to think it was all downhill from five...
