Pajama Parade

Years ago when we lived on the college campus, we had pajama parades with the boys. We bathed them, dressed them in PJs, loaded them into a red wagon, and went for one last walk around campus before bedtime. They always loved it (and I don't think the college students minded seeing them in their fuzzy pajamas waving like they were celebrities). I mentioned it a while back as a fun memory, and the kids have begged to do it every since.

Tonight (drizzling rain and all...) they won us over. We showered up, put on pajamas, wrapped housecoats around them, and set out. They wore headlamps and carried flashlights and loved every second of our stroll around the neighborhood. We came home, curled up on the couch, and watched "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" together. Then we tucked three sleepy, happy kids into their flannel sheets.

This, folks, is why I became a parent.
