The News Around Here

This morning I swore Thomas to secrecy and told him I was planning to make a gingerbread house with them later today.  "It's our secret, Mom.  I'll try not to tell."  Half an hour later, the secret was out.  He told Cora, then went on to tell Henry.

Me: Thomas!  You were supposed to keep that a surprise!

Thomas: I know, Mom.  I just couldn't.

Henry: News is spreading around here like butter on toast, Mom.


He's so enlightened since he started school.  His metaphoric vocabulary has doubled or tripled.  But he does have a point...
