Day One of the Adventure

This is the current condition of our kitchen:

Or, I should say, what was our kitchen. Tomorrow we begin construction on our new kitchen and dining room. We couldn't be more excited, but the in-between time is a whole new adventure. For instance, for the next several weeks this will be our "kitchen":

Not glamorous, maybe, but it will work. We're cooking our meals in a slow cooker or on a griddle. In the absence of a kitchen sink, we've been carting dirty dishes upstairs to the bathroom in a laundry basket, washing them under the bathtub faucet, and carting them back downstairs to put them away in that little corner cabinet/pantry.

Tonight we hauled the load of dishes upstairs. As I washed, the kids and Micah provided some entertainment. They play-acted A Charlie Brown Christmas, reading the script of the movie off of Micah's phone. Henry was Charlie Brown (a spot-on impression), Thomas was a perfect Linus (he even had a blanket), and Cora played Violet, Lucy, Sally, and any other strong female leads while Micah narrated. It was the most fun I've ever had washing dishes. They followed me downstairs where Linus delivered his monologue while I dried dishes.

The next few weeks will be a little wild, but we're going to make the most of them. Here's to many fun memories!
