Thomas and Mary Berry

I've been hooked on the Great British Baking Show for a long time. Since Netflix added some new episodes, the kids have caught me watching at the tail end of rest time or in the evenings when they sneak out of bed. Thomas is enthralled with Mary Berry and has been begging to "bake a cake that would make Mary Berry proud." Last night was his night to stay up, so we pored over recipes. He's blessed with a mother who is completely cake decorating-inept, so I steered him a little away from a traditional cake and a little more toward meringue. We finally settled on making little meringue bunnies. He was beaming.

They may not look exactly like the picture in the recipe, but I think Mary Berry would give him Star Baker, just the same.

Another recipe to tuck away in his recipe book... Next on his list of things he wants to try: French macarons. Hoo boy, here we go...!
